The Pinks: Growing up in front of my lens!
Some clients start to feel more like family over time, and then there's the real-life sitcom of Kayla, her hilarious husband, Chris, and their almost four boys.
I met this amazing family six years ago when they booked a photo shoot for their oldest son, Ryker. Back then, he was so sweet and shy, and I just knew he was going to be a heartthrob. Now? He's the total golden child. He's growing up so fast, with a sense of humor and a smile that could melt a whole city. And he totally knows it.
Over the years I have had the pleasure of getting to know this family more, and it's been so much fun. They are warm, real, and absolutely chaotic—in the best way. Every year, I've had the privilege of capturing their wild and wonderful journey: the arrival of Raiden (the firecracker), then Rennick (the charm bomb), and now, we're counting down to baby number four — Raxton!
(Yes, all their names start with the letter R. Yes, it's amazing. No, I haven't mixed them up... that many times.)
Each session has been its own adventure. Think wrangling toddlers with the energy of caffeinated squirrels, chasing each other around with sticks, and roaring like a dinosaur to get them to smile. But in the middle of the madness, there's so much love—and so many moments that make me want to pause the shoot to take it all in.
Kayla is the calm of the storm. She's beautiful in that effortless, glow-from-within kind of way, and she's incredibly smart—like "I manage three (soon to be four) boys and still remember to coordinate outfits for photos" smart. Her kids have her kindness and spirit. I see it when Ryker asks thoughtful questions between shots or when Raiden shares his snack with his brother (usually... the fruit snacks are sacred).
And then there's Chris, the MVP of dad jokes. I'm pretty sure his goal each year is to get me to laugh so hard that the shots blur. Mission consistently accomplished. His goofy rom-com energy is infectious, and it's clearly rubbed off on the boys. Rennick, in particular, has inherited his dad's comedic timing and dramatic silly faces. Future class clown? Highly likely.
Watching this family grow has been one of the most heartwarming parts of my career as a photographer. What started as a simple client relationship has turned into a yearly tradition I genuinely look forward to. It's more than just snapping pictures—it's watching little personalities unfold, seeing a family's love stretch and strengthen, and capturing memories that are both beautiful and real.
As we get ready to welcome Raxton to the crew, I can't help but feel honored to document another chapter in their story. One more little boy to love, to laugh with, and—let's be real— to chase around with my camera.
Thank you, Kayla and Chris, for letting me be a part of your big, beautiful life. I’ve watched your family grow, and you’ve watched my business grow. Here's to more years of laughter, chaos, and unforgettable moments to come!
